Tampa Bay High School Football Combine Spotlight: Sheridan Thompson, Jr.

This year marks the 10th Annual Tampa Bay High School Football Combine, presented by the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.  With so many exceptional student-athletes in attendance, we'd like to provide the opportunity to get to know the players a little before they hit the field at this year's combine.

Sheridan Thompson, Jr., 5'8", 137lbs.

Q: "What do you think distinguishes you from every other player in the nation?"

A: "My hard work, dedication, and love for the game."

Q: "What do you hope to gain out of your participation in the Tampa Bay High School Football Combine?"

A: "I hope to gain exposure to colleges"

Q: "What are your strengths?  What do you need to improve on?"

A: "My strengths are quickness, hands, vision, ball skills.  I need to improve on strength and size, but I also need to improve on everything.  There's always room for improvement."

Q: "What extracurricular or community involvement activities do you participate in?  What are your hobbies outside of football?"

A: "My hobbies outside of football are basketball and track."

Q: "Which player, if any, do you model your game after or often get compared to by your teammates on the field?"

A: "I try to model my game after LeSean McCoy."

Q: "How have you evolved over the years as a player?"

A: "I've just gotten better football IQ."

Q: "What is your proudest moment in football?"

A: "Scoring a game-winning touchdown run."

Q: "What is your proudest moment off the field?"

A: "Me trying to get stronger and faster and trying to become a student athlete."

Q: "What celebrity would play you in the movie version of your life and why?"

A: "Allen Iverson, because he had gotten into some trouble in high school just like I did.  He also was always doubted because of his size but just like Iverson, I have a heart of a lion.  His father wasn't there for him like mines.  He loved football & basketball just like I do.  And he proved everybody wrong by making good grades and getting his life back on track just like I am trying to do now."

Q: "What TV show marathon will keep you on the couch all day?"

A: "'A Football Life' on ESPN because their stories inspire me.  Also Martin, that's my favorite TV show."

Q: "Who/what has been the biggest influence on football in your life?  How so?"

A: "All of the people who doubt me.  Because it just motivates me to do even better."

Q: "What honors or awards have you received (both athletic and non-athletic)?"

A: "I have received honor roll before and turn around student of the year, player of the game for the North East Bandits."

Q: "What is your favorite movie?"

A: "Oh, I have lots of them, but my favorite is Love and Basketball.  I also like He Got Game and The Blindside."

Q: "Who is your favorite NFL team?"

A: "The Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers"

Q: "What is your favorite web site?"

A: "ESPN.com"

Q: "What is your favorite food?"

A: "Chocolate chip pancakes and lemon pepper chicken wings"

A: "Southern Arkansas University"
