Tampa Bay High School Football Combine Spotlight: Joe Wintrick

This year marks the 10th Annual Tampa Bay High School Football Combine, presented by the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.  With so many exceptional student-athletes in attendance, we'd like to provide the opportunity to get to know the players a little before they hit the field at this year's combine.

Q: "What do you think distinguishes you from every other player in the nation?"

A: "I am a very hard worker and always give anything I do 110 percent.  I have the heart and drive to succeed and will never give up."

Q: "What do you hope to gain out of your participation in the Tampa Bay High School Football Combine?"

A: "I hope to get a perspective on what the talent level at my position around the area.  Also, I hope to get my name out there and to show everyone that I am really serious and talented."

Q: "What are your strengths?  What do you need to improve on?"

A: "I am strong at pass and run blocking and need to improve my footwork."

Q: "What extracurricular or community involvement activities do you participate in?  What are your hobbies outside of football?"

A: "I am in a club at school and do a little community work at the church I attend.  And I also play baseball and love to fish."

Q: "Which player, if any, do you model your game after or often get compared to by your teammates on the field?"

A: "Jake Long"

Q: "How have you evolved over the years as a player?"

A: "I have gotten a lot stronger and faster and have really improved at my position.  My grades have all gone up since playing football."

Q: "What is your proudest moment in football?"

A: "My proudest moment would probably be when I blocked and shut down a player who was committed to Alabama."

Q: "What is your proudest moment off the field?"

A: "Getting honor roll at my school for grades."

Q: "What TV show marathon will keep you on the couch all day?"

A: "30 for 30 on ESPN"

Q: "Who/what has been the biggest influence on football in your life?  How so?"

A: "My father, he does everything possible for me and my siblings to have a good childhood and I try to be the best player on and off the field."

Q: "What honors or awards have you received (both athletic and non-athletic)?"

A: "Honor roll and most improved"

Q: "What is your favorite movie?"

A: "Remember the Titans"

Q: "Who is your favorite NFL team?"

A: "The Minnesota Vikings"

A: "Pizza"

Q: "What college interest have you received?"

A: "A few DII schools"

A: "11-game starter, no offsides or holding penalties, 20+ pancakes"
