Tampa Bay High School Football Combine Spotlight: Wilan Harvey

This year marks the 10th Annual Tampa Bay High School Football Combine, presented by the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.  With so many exceptional student-athletes in attendance, we'd like to provide the opportunity to get to know the players a little before they hit the field at this year's combine.

Q: "What do you think distinguishes you from every other player in the nation?"

A: "I'm willing to learn new techniques and will not stop working at it."

Q: "What do you hope to gain out of your participation in the Tampa Bay High School Football Combine?"

A: "A look at where my combine numbers are at."

Q: "What are your strengths?  What do you need to improve on?"

A: "My agility and footwork.  I need to improve on speed and explosiveness."

Q: "What extracurricular or community involvement activities do you participate in?  What are your hobbies outside of football?"

A: "I volunteer at the YMCA and my hobbies include playing basketball, hanging out with friends, and writing poetry."

Q: "Which player, if any, do you model your game after or often get compared to by your teammates on the field?"

A: "I try to model my game after Deion Sanders and Jarvis Landry because I wear #21."

Q: "How have you evolved over the years as a player?"

A: "I have become smarter, stronger, faster, and more physical as a player.  I have also improved my game speed and vision."

Q: "What is your proudest moment in football?"

A: "My proudest moment was intercepting a 4th quarter post route against our rival Seminole Warhawks, then sealing the game with an eleven-yard TD."

Q: "What is your proudest moment off the field?"

A: "Receiving the Dr. Mac J Williams award for academic excellence."

Q: "What celebrity would play you in the movie version of your life and why?"

A: "Wesley Snipes"

Q: "Who/what has been the biggest influence on football in your life?  How so?"

A: "My mom -- she has shown me what it takes to succeed and to always stay on course."

A: "Pinellas County All-County Honorable Mention, "Best Team Defensive Back" and All Sun Coast Honorable Mention"
