Tampa Bay High School Football Combine Spotlight: Bryan Walker

This year marks the 10th Annual Tampa Bay High School Football Combine, presented by the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.  With so many exceptional student-athletes in attendance, we'd like to provide the opportunity to get to know the players a little before they hit the field at this year's combine.

Q: "What do you think distinguishes you from every other player in the nation?"

A: "I work hard and strive for the best in all that I do in the classroom, weight room, and football field.  I try to be better than the best man."

Q: "What do you hope to gain out of your participation in the Tampa Bay High School Football Combine?"

A: "I hope to gain knowledge, more skills and power."

Q: "What are your strengths?  What do you need to improve on?"

A: "I have great athletic abilities, but I struggle at times with remembering play signals."

Q: "What extracurricular or community involvement activities do you participate in?  What are your hobbies outside of football?"

A: "I am the president of the Kappa League of Tampa, I am a member of SGA (student government association) at Tampa Bay Tech., I am a volunteer flag football coach at McLane Middle School, I am also a member of the Hillsborough Education Foundation scholarship program, and I am a member of my church (Love First Christian Center) sound team, teen ministry, and dance team."

Q: "Which player, if any, do you model your game after or often get compared to by your teammates on the field?"

A: "I am compared to Chris Leak in college."

Q: "How have you evolved over the years as a player?"

A: "I went from being scared, to being the best type player, to a grind hard and don't take 'no' for an answer type player."

Q: "What is your proudest moment in football?"

A: "My proudest moment was when I was in little league and I caught an 86-yard touchdown for my team to go to the championship for our division, and as I was running I could see the clock counting down from 10... I was the proudest kid that day."

Q: "What is your proudest moment off the field?"

A: "My freshman year in high school, I was rewarded a two-year prepaid scholarship from the Hillsborough education foundation for any college or university in the state of Florida.  I received the scholarship based on academics."

Q: "What celebrity would play you in the movie version of your life and why?"

A: "It would have to be Martin Lawrence because I can be a comedian at times, and I can also be joked on and talked about."

Q: "What TV show marathon will keep you on the couch all day?"

A: "Friday Night Tykes"

Q: "Who/what has been the biggest influence on football in your life?  How so?"

A: "My head coach, Coach Roberts.  He makes it known that you have to strive hard on and off the field to be someone successful."

Q: "What honors or awards have you received (both athletic and non-athletic)?"

A: "First place at the 2012 Florida Education Fund Brain Bowl, middle school Scholar Athlete Award 2011-2012, Star Reading Award 2012-2013, Scholarship Awards 2013-2014."

Q: "What is your favorite movie?"

A: "Friday, the original"

Q: "Who is your favorite NFL team?"

A: "The Seattle Seahawks"
